Supporting utility-scale energy deployment through long-term storage, coordinated sequencing, and high-volume final mile execution.

Large PCS Units Stored in Secure Storage Yard

Project Overview

One Source Freight Solutions supported a utility-scale energy project with seven months of secure storage and final mile delivery of 225 oversized BESS and PCS units.

Inventory was strategically staged near the project site in Salt Lake City to reduce transportation costs and support rapid deployment once installation activities began.

Over a 21-day delivery window, OSFS coordinated transport in a strict 4:1 BESS-to-PCS sequence aligned to onsite crane and installation schedules.

Challenges

Managing Oversized Equipment Storage

  • Units exceeding 80,000 lbs.

  • Large storage footprint requiring organized staging lanes

  • Ground preparation requirements to support unit weight

  • Long-term inventory management over a seven-month period

Maintaining High-Volume Delivery Flow

  • 15 loads per day required during peak operations

  • Two-turn-per-day routing strategy needed

  • Strict 4:1 BESS-to-PCS sequencing requirements

  • Continuous coordination between carriers and onsite teams

Our Solution

Storage Operations

  • Facilitated site preparation and ground reinforcement to support long-term storage of overweight units

  • Configured staging areas for efficient oversized equipment movement

  • Positioned inventory near the project site to reduce final mile transportation costs

  • Supported onsite testing and preparation before deployment

Final Mile Transportation

  • Designed a delivery strategy optimized for continuous truck utilization

  • Provided dedicated project management team to maintain delivery coordination and schedule adherence

  • Maintained strict 4:1 BESS-to-PCS delivery sequencing

  • Deployed multi-axle step decks and RGNs matched to unit dimensions and weight

  • Sustained 15 loads per day with zero transportation delays
